Studio Bumi is a New York–based food experience studio designing belonging through communal dining. We create guided, repeatable shared meal formats that help people connect meaningfully and feel capable of hosting others themselves. Over the past two years, we have hosted 35+ public communal dinners and expanded into workplace and community settings. What differentiates Studio Bumi is that we don’t just *host* events: we design systems that enable former guests to become facilitators and co-hosts. Our growth is built on participation, trust, and repeat engagement rather than one-time experiences. Our vision is a world where no one in a city has to feel alone, where there is always a table of friendly faces, though maybe a little nervous at the beginning, waiting to exchange that first “hi!”. Our solution is to cultivate those tables everywhere, one dinner, one office lunch, one community at a time. We see each gathering as a building block of belonging, creating ripple effects of social connection. If we can systematize this – making it easy for anyone, anywhere to organize a meaningful communal meal – then we can sustainably chip away at the loneliness epidemic.
